The history
we’ve cherished.
The memories
we will make.

Be a part of Woodlawn Cemetery’s reimagining as a place where people of can gather, celebrate, dance, eat, reflect, and remember.

THE FRIENDS OF WOODLAWN are embracing a return to Woodlawn Cemetery’s earliest days, when it served not only as a final resting place for the deceased, but also as a place for the living to stroll and enjoy nature.  In 1904, Henry Flagler cleared seventeen acres of pineapple fields to create Woodlawn Cemetery, a burial ground with a park-like atmosphere for the early pioneers of the Palm Beaches.

The Friends of Woodlawn embrace a bold vision for the cemetery: a place that welcomes the living with a park-like atmosphere, featuring a restored tree canopy, new footpaths and roads, enhanced gardens, sculptures, and an iconic trellis structure for gatherings. It is envisioned that Woodlawn will become a place for picnicking, watching butterflies and birds, listening to small-scale classical music performances, attending poetry readings, observing great works of art, and more. It will be a place that celebrates the arts and nature.
